Beliefs and Values of the Therapeutic Environment

Many people need help in coping with difficulties.
Most people who need help have the coping resources within themselves.
The client determines the content, methods and success of counselling.

Code of Practice

  • To establish and maintain standards of competence
  • To respect client’s world and to avoid imposing therapist’s values
  • To maintain confidentiality of the client, except when the life or safety of the client is endangered
  • To be aware of the limitations of own competence and, if necessary, to refer a client to a more suitably qualified professional.
  • To ensure correct representation of qualifications and competence
